President Erdogan not against Greece: Albanian PM

If Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wanted to, he could take advantage of the Greek crisis to destroy Greece, but Erdogan has no ill feelings towards the Greek people, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said in an interview with the Greek press.

'ERDOGAN NOT ANTI-GREEK'

In his speech, Prime Minister Rama emphasized that President Erdogan is not anti-Greek.

"I believe you know very well that President Erdogan, even when he was prime minister, had the courage to put a deal on the table on Cyprus. You remember, it was a very dangerous thing for his career in Ankara and he did it," Rama said.

"During the severe crisis that Greece was facing, I did not see him taking advantage of the situation and making it worse, because if he wanted to destroy Greece or if he was intent on destroying Greece, he could have taken advantage of the situation, using the refugees to turn the crisis into something even more painful, but he did not do that. Indeed, I have never seen him as a person who has bad feelings towards Greece and the Greek people," Rama added.

'WE LOVE TÜRKİYE AND GREECE'

"We have a strategic partnership agreement with President Erdoğan, but I don't think we should choose between President Erdogan or Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, between Greece and Türkiye. We like both of them. The fact that you don't like each other very much should not be a problem for us to like both of you," Rama noted.

"President Erdogan never asked what was going on about this issue. He does not need Albania to continue his struggles" the Albanian Prime Minister emphasized, referring to the issue of maritime jurisdiction between Albania and Greece.
