Armenia court arrests two Azeri soldiers after border-crossing incidentApril 17, 2023 - 16:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan decided to arrest two Azerbaijani soldiers who had earlier crossed the border from Nakhichevan and been detained in Armenia. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, a criminal case has been initiated against Agshin Babirov and Hussein Akhundov under a number of articles of the criminal code. They are accused of illegally crossing the state border by prior agreement by a group of people, smuggling and illegal circulation of weapons and ammunition. The Prosecutor General's Office said it would periodically inform the public about the investigation. Earlier, human rights defender Anahit Manasyan visited the Azerbaijani soldiers in the pre-trial detention center. On April 10, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan reported that two servicemen got lost in Nakhichevan. One of them was discovered and detained on April 10 near the town of Sisian (Syunik province of the Republic of Armenia). The second Azerbaijani soldier, who crossed the border from Nakhichevan, was detained in the same province on April 13.
